(R) -5-methyl-1,4-diazocyclohexane-1-carboxylate benzyl ester is an intermediate of Suvoreson. Suvoreson is a non sedative selective brain melanocortin receptor antagonist drug primarily used for the treatment of insomnia. It inhibits sleep promoting effects by antagonizing receptors for melanocyte releasing factors in the lateral hypothalamus of the central nervous system, while not affecting awakening related neurophysiological processes.
